Tickets for the Southern Heritage Classic – the last scheduled meeting between Jackson State and Tennessee State – will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster or calling by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
The game will be at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
Jackson State announced in February they’d no longer participate in the game after this year despite signing a contract in 2019 to play through the 2024 season. JSU initially pulled out of this year’s game as well but announced they would honor the agreement for one more season.

Coach Deion Sanders said the decision was made because he believed JSU should be more compensated for being, in his opinion, the main draw of the game. Both Jackson State and Tennessee State will be paid $350,000 this year.
Summitt Management Corporation, which owns and operates the event, filed a lawsuit against JSU and the Southwest Athletic Conference in March claiming a coordinated breach of contract. The SWAC created its own Classic in Birmingham that was scheduled to begin next season with Jackson State but JSU will now participate in 2023 and 2024 facing Southern.
Jackson State won the last two Southern Heritage Classics, including a 38-16 win last season
