SPLENDORA, TX – On December 13, 2021, District 18 State Representative Ernest Bailes held a meet and greet at the East Montgomery County Community Development Center in Splendora.
Rep. Bailes is the new State Representative for a large portion of the East Montgomery County area after redistricting this year, as Rep. Bailes has been making the rounds in the area to acquaint himself with the specific needs of East Montgomery County in association with the area he has been representing in the legislature, San Jacinto and Liberty counties.
With the conclusion of an exhausting legislative year, Bailes has met with numerous members of East Montgomery County leadership in an effort to understand how he can best serve the area. During tonight’s meet and greet, Bailes spoke individually with attendees regarding the issues they found most important and how they could be addressed legislatively.
A number of East Montgomery County leadership was present, including Precinct 4 Commissioner James Metts, Precinct 4 Constable Rowdy Hayden, Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn, EMCID Director Stephen Carlisle, and Splendora ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Burke. Also in attendance were several candidates for office including John Hafley for County Court-at-Law #1, Sara Countryman for County Judge, Billy Graff for County Judge, and State Rep. District 3 Cecil Bell Jr.
One person in attendance stated “It would appear that Representative Bailes is far more engaged with his constituency than his predecessor, Will Metcalf or State Senator Brandon Creighton; and seems to be a good fit with current local electeds in Precinct 4.”
