There are 11 NBA games tonight which indicates a robust NBA DFS player pool, but that pool will be light on stars with a number of big names sidelined. Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and Ja Morant are all out which takes out three of the top point guards on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. But you can still find value at the position with an unsung player such as Terry Rozier of the Charlotte Hornets.
Ever since the All-Star break, Rozier has taken his game to another level with averages of 23.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds. He also gets the luxury of facing a Knicks team playing on the road on the second night of a back-to-back. Can Rozier continue his brilliant play as a component of NBA DFS lineups? On Tuesday, McClure listed Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo as one of his top NBA DFS picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Antetokounmpo went off for 25 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and three blocks to return 59.25 points on DraftKings and 55.9 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.
Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Wednesday, March 23, NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NBA DFS picks for Wednesday, March 23
One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks on Wednesday is 76ers center Joel Embiid, who is listed at $11,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Embiid did not play on Monday due to a back injury, but he isn’t even listed on Wednesday’s injury report. The MVP frontrunner is averaging 32.4 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks over his last seven games.
Embiid has been filling up the box score over the last few weeks and he did the same in his previous matchup versus Wednesday’s opponent in the Los Angeles Lakers. In a late January game, Embiid had 26 points, nine boards, seven assists and a pair of blocks against an LA team that started Anthony Davis at center. Davis is out with a foot injury which robs the Lakers of their best defensive player, and Embiid should exploit the depleted Lakers squad tonight.
Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Grizzlies guard Tyus Jones ($4,600 on DraftKings and $4,300 on FanDuel). Jones should get the start with Morant (knee) out and he’s provided solid NBA DFS value in his previous 16 starts. Across those games, the former Duke star has averaged 11.9 points, 6.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds.
Jones came off the bench the last time he faced the Nets, who Memphis takes on tonight, but he still filled up the box score in limited minutes. Jones posted 12 points, five rebounds and five assists in just 19 minutes, but he averages over 30 minutes per game as a starter which shows his potential for a big night. Additionally, Jones gets to take on a Brooklyn defense which has struggled defending opposing point guards. The Nets have allowed the fifth-most Fantasy points to the position on DraftKings and the seventh-most on FanDuel.
